Who are Souths?

The South Sydney Rabbitohs, also known as Souths or SSFC, are a professional Australian Rugby League team based in Sydney, NSW. The Club participates in the National Rugby League (NRL) premiership and is one of the only remaining foundation clubs that have been in existence since 1908.

The Rabbitohs' traditional heartland covers the once-typically working class suburbs on the southern fringes of the Sydney CBD. The Rabbitohs have a broad supporter base which is spread nationwide. The Rabbitohs play out of Telstra Stadium at Sydney Olympic Park, but previous home grounds have included Redfern Oval and the Sydney Football Stadium.

At the elite competition level, South Sydney is the most successful Club in the history of the game having won 20 first grade premierships and having provided 62 internationals for the Australian side. The Rabbitohs have famously worn their cardinal red and myrtle green colours since inception.

In 1925, South Sydney was dubbed ‘The Pride of the League’ and the Rabbitohs are known as this to this day.

The rebirth of the Rabbitohs began on 7 June, 2006 through a new partnership between Russell Crowe, Peter Holmes à Court and the Members of the Club.

The Rabbitohs currently have seven internationals in their playing roster including New Zealand captain Roy Asotasi, Kiwis David Fa’alogo, Joe Galuvao, David Kidwell and Nigel Vagana, and Australian representatives Shannon Hegarty and David Peachey.
